Question. At the operator level, is resistance to cognitive warfare the same capacity as innovation that survives conformity?

Analogy. Resistance and innovation are one keel, not two fins on the same hull.

What's at stake. This tests the abstract's most distinctive and most load-bearing claim, the one that turns a defence proposal into an innovation-and-defence proposal: that the mechanism which protects independent thinking against cognitive warfare is the same mechanism that keeps a new idea alive against conformity pressure, so defence output and innovation output are two faces of the same structural property. The entire one-architecture-three-outputs case, resilience, innovation, and a leadership pipeline, rests on that identity. Right now it is asserted and never tested. If the within-operator correlation is strong, the claim is real and the proposal's largest promise is grounded. If it is weak, the unification is architectural convenience, two things that happen to run on one platform.

The two answers it decides between. Either there is one latent capacity, so drift-resistance and conformity-surviving innovation correlate strongly within the same operator (the proposal's unification); or they are distinct capacities, the within-operator correlation is weak, and the platform measures two different things that share infrastructure. Only the first earns the "two faces of the same structural property" language; the second means it is a packaging claim, not a trait claim.

What a null result would mean. A weak within-operator correlation says the two-faces identity is rhetorical or architectural, not a shared individual trait. It does not read as "the platform was built wrong," because both instruments still work, they simply measure two things rather than one. The proposal would then retire the identity claim and keep the weaker, still-true "one architecture serves both" version.

Why this matters to defence. The proposal's case to DRDC is partly that the same spend buys cognitive-warfare resilience and a national innovation multiplier (DRDC Objective 6, and the personnel and innovation angle under DRDC Objective 2). If those are one capacity, the dual return is a single mechanism and the efficiency argument is real; if they are two, DRDC is funding two things under one banner and should price them separately. The result changes how the sponsor values the whole proposition, which is a concrete stake, not a framing nicety.

How we would run it. Measure both halves on the same operators at once, without reading their content: their resistance to drift, from the detection signals and the identity-charged resistance measures, and the survival of their new ideas, from the signal of whether an operator's idea gets taken up by others in their community. Then check, within each person, whether the two go together. We hold an agency-disposition measure alongside, to make sure any link is not just both being driven by general ability rather than one shared trait. The number that decides it is how tightly the two track within the same person, committed to in advance. It needs both capacities measured on the same people, in the same naturalistic conditions, without reading content, which no other setting supplies; the platform is the instrument that makes the within-operator comparison possible at all.

Earliest start. Stage 11: the study needs the drift-detection telemetry and the innovation-adoption signal both live, so it is a late, post-foundation study.
